Gua Sha – What exactly is it?

2019 - Present has seen a massive rise in self-care and truth be told it is exactly what was required in our hectic schedule. Interesting enough self-care has also given birth to multiple new beauty regime and one of them has been the use of face tools or more popularly known as Gua Sha.

Gua Sha is a type of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) that involves scraping people's skin with an instrument to create mild petechiae. Gua Sha practitioners believe that it stimulates new oxygenated blood flow to aching, weary, stiff, or wounded muscle parts by releasing unhealthy biological stuff from blood stasis, encouraging metabolic cell repair, regeneration, healing, and recovery.

But how does Gua Sha fits into your beauty regime remains a question? Well, it’s easy, takes 5 minutes and results are amazing! Hey Poppy is here to tell you how to sculpt your face with the use of Gua Sha. Of course, there are different kinds of Gua Sha for different part of your body and your face but today we're going talk about your basic Gua Sha and how to sculpt your cheekbone with it.

Start with a clean face apply your favourite serum or oil (hyperlink to our product), start from your nostrils and move towards the outside part of the cheekbones while holding your skin tight. Always make sure to stretch their skin enough so for example if you are using your Gua Sha on the right side of your face and you are massaging it from inside towards the outside of your cheek then make sure that you're holding your nose with the left hand and stretching it towards the other side and that's how the massage will work properly where your skin and face muscle are stimulated and are getting massaged at the same time.
